Omsk SAU Rector participated in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food session

On April 5, the Governor of the Omsk Region Alexander Leonidovich Burkov chaired an extended session of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food board "On the results of the work of the agro-industrial complex in the Omsk Region in 2021 and tasks for 2022".

Over 250 people participated in the discussion of the main tasks of the regional agriculture development. They are representatives of regional authorities and federal structures, municipal districts and agricultural organizations, science and education, food and processing industry, supply bases and agricultural machinery enterprises.

They discussed ways of how to make the Omsk Region more self-sufficient in terms of agricultural products. Other topics were stabilization of prices on the regional market, increase in producing cereals, milk, meat, eggs and other staple agricultural products, and measures on attracting federal financing to support local farmers and agricultural producers. Alexander Leonidovich Burkov emphasized that "Minimizing negative impact of sanctions and developing integrated import substitution is the main task for 2022".

Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region Nikolai Valentinovich Drofa announced the results of agricultural production in 2021 and stated the current objectives for 2022. The Omsk Region is one of the three leaders among Siberian regions in terms of agricultural production. In 2021, the share of crop production in the total volume of agriculture increased by 28% to 73.5 billion rubles. It is caused by an increase in oilseeds production by over 30%. The region rose to the second place in the Siberian Federal District in terms of gross collection of oilseeds. The volume of exports of food and agricultural raw materials increased by more than 15% over the year, largely due to wheat and other cereals (+21%) and flax seeds (+50%).

Omsk SAU Rector Oksana Viktorovna Shumakova made a report "Integration of agrarian education, science and production in the context of import substitution". She noted that "2021, officially declared by the President of Russia as the Year of Science and Technology, allowed our university to focus on the integration of science and education, the search for new partnerships. Omsk State Agrarian University is actively developing a system of multi-level training of competent personnel based on the continuity of education and science and mandatory integration into the world educational and scientific community."

The Rector's report presented the results and key educational projects. The emphasis was out on integration with business (employer-sponsored training, internships on enterprises, employment rates, the federal project "Professionalitet"), as well as promising scientific and innovative projects aimed at dealing with import substitution and food security issues: breeding of cereal crops, food and agricultural biotechnologies, new veterinary drugs, projects to make products more eco-friendly.

Following the results of all the reports, a resolution was adopted. It contained a detailed list of concrete measures aimed at improving the efficiency of the development of agriculture in the Omsk Region.
