Omsk SAU scientists reported at the International Congress of Veterinary Pharmacologists and Toxicologists of the EAEU

On June 9-11, the VI International Congress of Veterinary Pharmacologists and Toxicologists of the EAEU was held. Its subject was "Current problems and innovations in modern veterinary pharmacology and toxicology."

The event was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Professor's Vladimir Dmitrievich Sokolov birth. As the author of various textbooks and manuals on veterinary pharmacology and pharmacy, he has made a huge contribution to Russian science development. He was a holder of "Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation" state award.

This scientific congress is held once in three years. This time, it was organized in Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine Vitebsk, Republic of Belarus). Such events attract experts from different countries. They allow representing the most up-to date information about scientific achievements of individuals and research groups.

Scientists of Omsk State Agrarian University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine also made presentations at the congress. Head of the Department of Diagnostics, Internal Non-infectious Diseases, Pharmacology, Surgery and Obstetrics, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences Tatiana Vladimirovna Boyko spoke about the experience of training highly qualified scientific personnel via implementing world-class projects. She also presented the report "Development of multifunctional medicines for dairy farming as an alternative to antibiotics and hormones".

Deputy Director for Educational and Scientific Work of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology of Omsk State Agrarian University, Doctor of Biological Sciences Taras Vladimirovich Gerunov was the second Omsk SAU representative at the meeting. He is working on the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for state support of young Russian scientists (MD-2435.2022.5.). Dr Gerunov presented the report "Potential danger of multi- contamination of feed with mycotoxins".

Then, the congress guests were invited to a trip to the veterinary academy campus. They were told about the university history, its outstanding scientists, and about cooperation with other representatives of the agro-industrial complex of Belarus.

An excursion to JSC "BelVitunipharm", a high-tech bioindustrial enterprise that occupies a leading position in the markets of the Republic of Belarus and the CIS, was the key feature of the congress. The guests saw various production sites, learned about the strategy of interaction with specialized educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus. They were also told about the industry outlooks both at national and international levels in the context of challenging economic conditions and worsening epizootic situation.

Representatives of various educational and research institutes took part in the congress, including scientists from Moscow and St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Saratov, Penza, Orel, Nizhny Novgorod and other cities. Rector of Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Nikolay Ivanovich Gavrichenko and Scientific Director of the All-Russian Scientific Research Veterinary Institute of Pathology, Pharmacology and Therapy, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Viktorovich Shabunin proposed to organize the next congress (in 2025) in Uzbekistan. In his turn, Rector of Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine Khudainazar Yunusov supported this proposal and promised to assist in organizing the future congress of veterinary pharmacologists and toxicologists.
