Prospects for the development of Omsk SAU in the framework of national projects and programs were discussed

During a round table held on March 12, participants discussed the Omsk SAU strategy in the long term. They focused on the implementation of national projects and programs, including those aimed at integrated rural development and digital transformation.

Oksana Shumakova, Omsk SAU Rector, pointed out that our university is carrying out systematic work on the transformation of strategic directions of development, taking into account current trends in science and education, prospects for human resources, and the implementation of new long-term projects. Nowadays, Omsk SAU actively participates in the regional program "Development of the agro-industrial complex of the Omsk region", which covers the period till 2025. Omsk SAU provides scientific support and develops main principles within the program.

The university has an impressive scientific and innovative potential. It has 28 scientific schools of thought, including 4 in the field of selection and genetics of agricultural crops, and 3 dissertation councils. More than 600 patents were given to the university, and 32 varieties of grain and leguminous crops, including unique varieties of perennial and purple wheat, were created here. Omsk SAU scientists develop synthetic wheat breeding.

Oksana Shumakova told that Omsk State Agrarian University has experience of effective work with talented young people. It held classes on agricultural topics, and its students participated in various intensive courses and innovative competitions. In 2020, Omsk SAU became the regional site for the implementation of the All-Russian competition "AgroNTI 2020".

At the end of the meeting, the participating heads of ministries thanked the Omsk SAU administration for the high efficiency and quality of work on important national projects and programs, taking into account the global challenges that modern society has to face.
