XVIII Siberian Agrotechnical Trade Fair "Agro-Omsk 2022"

On July 25 and 26, as part of the business program of the XVIII Siberian Agrotechnical Trade Fair "Agro-Omsk 2022", an Agricultural exhibition was held in the fields of the educational and experimental farm of the Omsk State Agrarian University.

The event was attended by more than 120 specialists in the field of crop production, heads of farms and representatives of district departments of agriculture from 32 districts of the Omsk region. At the opening of the event, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk region Oleg Leontievich Kolesnikov and Rector of Omsk State Agrarian University Oksana Viktorovna Shumakova made welcoming speeches.

The business part of the Exhibition began with the acquaintance of the participants with the goals and objectives, as well as the basic principles of the Carbon Proving Ground of the Omsk State Agrarian University.

The Head of the Department of Ecology, Environmental Engineering and Biology Olga Vladimirovna Nezhevlyak told about the potential effects for improving the efficiency of agricultural production using the developments of the Carbon Proving Ground as part of the demonstration of automatic data collection and processing, operational management of the main parameters of crops (yield forecast, analysis of fertilizer needs, analysis of damage to crops by diseases and pests, etc.).

The Dean of the Faculty of Agrochemistry, Soil Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Engineering and Water Resources Exploitation Natalia Viktorovna Goman introduced the participants to the work of the field station of the Carbon Proving Ground: its structure, technical equipment, reference plots of the most common agricultural crops in the Omsk region (oats, wheat, corn, peas, etc.) and the data collected from them.

An associate Professor of the Department of Agrochemistry and Soil Science Marat Rakhimberdievich Shayakhmetov demonstrated examples of decision-making using data to manage the growth and development of crops.

On July 27, the grand opening of the Siberian Agrotechnical Trade Fair "Agro-Omsk 2022" took place in the park on Academician Korolev Prospekt.

A delegation headed by the Governor of the Omsk Region Alexander Leonidovich Burkov, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region Nikolai Valentinovich Drofa and the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Dmitrievich Zhukov visited the exhibition site of the Omsk State Agrarian University. Rector of Omsk SAU Oksana Viktorovna Shumakova presented the key projects of the university:

"We take an active part in the Agro-Omsk exhibition every year. This year we have changed the approach to exhibitions and presented projects that are being implemented by Omsk State Agrarian University in close cooperation with industrial partners. These are very promising projects that are aimed at solving import substitution problems".

Omsk SAU together with Omsk Scientific-Research Institute of Instrument Engineering (ROSTEC Corporation) implements a project to create a domestic information system for managing production processes in animal husbandry. This project is being carried out for the second year in a row. All software, sensors and component base in this system are completely of domestic production. Testing of the system elements in production conditions will begin at the end of 2022 on the basis of partner enterprises. This project has been recently included in the subprogram "Improving the genetic potential of beef cattle" of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Agriculture in Russia 2030.

The second project presented at the exhibition is the first beyond the Urals Carbon Proving Ground of the Omsk State Agrarian University "Kamyshlovskii Log". For the further development of the project, a grant of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) for 18 million rubles was received this year. It is aimed at increasing the yield forecast (with an accuracy of up to 90%) of agricultural crops, remote control of the damage of crops by diseases and pests, the formation of accurate maps of the need for fertilizers, as well as the ecological component of agricultural production (carbon footprint).

In conclusion, the rector told about one of the main scientific directions of the university - breeding and genetics in crop production. Omsk SAU is the only agricultural university in Russia that has received a mega-grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, within which a laboratory for wheat quality analysis was created under the guidance of a leading scientist from Turkey. Over the past 10 years, university scientists have created more than 20 modern varieties, including unique varieties of perennial and purple wheat with functional properties.

Also at the Agro-Omsk 2022 exhibition, important agreements on further cooperation were signed:

  1. 1. Agreement between Omsk State Agrarian University, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region and the Omsk Scientific-Research Institute of Instrument Engineering. The agreement is aimed at conducting research and development of civilian products and import substitution of high-tech products for the bakery industry.
  2. Agreement between Omsk State Agrarian University, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region, Omsk Scientific-Research Institute of Instrument Engineering and Soyuz Agro, LLC. The agreement will be implemented in order to conduct scientific research, develop and market civilian products and import substitution of high-tech products in the field of automation of technological and business processes in meat and dairy farming.
