The class of the scientific club was attended by students of the 1st and 2nd year of the course "Geodesy and remote sensing". The topic of the next meeting was the preparation of materials for participation in the regional scientific and practical conference. The following issues were put on the agenda of the meeting:
1. Introduction to the scientific search on the research topic.
2. Search and read scientific publications.
3. Preparation of a research plan.
The audience was given a brief overview of the basics of scientific research. The second question describes the process of effectively using a multi-stage reading strategy. They also talked about choosing a research topic, studying the relevance of the research, setting goals and objectives, methodology and description of the work, as well as what conclusions should be drawn.
In the course of the report on working with scientific publications, they said that in order to conduct research, you need to have a clearly defined goal, which motivates you to read meaningfully. Thus, scientific publications are always based on the following plan: introduction – methods – results – discussion. They also said that based on the list of references, it is possible to create a special list of works for further reading, which may contain those issues that are not considered in the publication being read, since they were discussed in detail in the publications themselves.
If you still have questions after reading the publications, you can ask the scientific communities dedicated to publications in the required field of research. Another useful technique has been developed – reading an article in an interested company, for example, together with fellow students. That is, what seems difficult when reading alone can be greatly simplified as a result of discussions.
At this meeting, the residents considered the main issues of scientific publication activity.
