Tara Branch

Tara Branch of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Omsk State Agrarian University named after P. A. Stolypin” was established in 1999. The Tara Branch was founded to solve personnel problems in the agricultural sector of the nine northern municipal districts of the Omsk region.

Currently, the Tara Branch contributes to the integrated development of agriculture (and related industries) in the North of the Omsk region. In particular, it contributes to solving personnel problems and provides scientific support for the region. Also, the Tara Branch allows rural population to get agricultural education to develop their regions and rural culture. As a whole, the Tara Branch helps to preserve the best rural traditions in the North of the Omsk region.

From 1999 to 2019, the Tara Branch of the Omsk State Agrarian University has trained 1.834 students with higher agricultural and agricultural-oriented education, and 208 students with secondary vocational education.

Tara Branch Campus

The Tara Branch of Omsk State Agrarian University has created comfortable conditions for living, recreation, educational, sports and creative activities of students.

Foreign students and students who attend preparatory courses are offered rooms in a modern 3-storey dormitory that can accommodate up to 263 students. The Tara Branch has enough places in the dormitory to allocate all the students who need it.

There is a room for self-preparation for classes, equipped with computers with free Internet access. There is a gym and an  assembly hall. On the first floor, there is a medical center and a buffet. All students who live in the dormitory are required to register there for the entire period of study (free of charge).

 

Student life of the Tara Branch

Popularizing sports and healthy lifestyle among students is a crucial objective of the Tara Branch.

The Tara Branch has enough sports equipment: skis, volleyball, basketball and football balls, jump ropes, hoops, dumbbells, etc. There is workout gear for sports teams.

Basketball and volleyball teams of the Tara Branch take prizes in competitions of different levels.

Students of the Tara Branch take an active part in the social life of Omsk SAU. Young, creative and enthusiastic teams participate in competitions hosted by our HEI, as well as in regional and city contests.

The Tara Branch hosts a number of events as a part of students' professional education: round tables ("Traditions of Russian hard work in grain farming", "Engineer is a vocation!", "My city through the eyes of a land surveyor", "You reap what you sow!"), festive programs for the Agriculture and Processing Industry Workers' Day, decades of the Faculty of Higher Education, student meetings with administrative workers, a scientific and practical conference "Student science on current problems and prospects for innovative development of regional agri-industrial complex", a competition "BUSINESS IDEAS".

Every summer, students participate in "Russian Student Squads" events. Russian Student Squads are teams of students who work in particular fields. There are service squads (waiters, barmen, cashiers), railroad squads, squads of builders, agricultural squads and so on.

At the city level, a series of events is held throughout the year among students living in dormitories of the city: the competition program "Friendship of peoples", the competition and entertainment program "Among friends", etc.

The most active and creative students are always encouraged and supported.  They are awarded with opportunity to go on guided tours to other Russian cities, they can go ice-skating free of charge or visit Omsk State Northern Drama Theatre named after M.A. Ulyanov.
