Agricultural Forum for School Students of the Znamensky Municipal District

On February 20, in the village of Kiselevо, Znamensky District of Omsk Region, another agricultural forum was held. The venue was Kiselevo Secondary School. School students from Butakovo, Semenov, Kiselev, Znamenskoye, and Zavyalovo schools took part in the event. A total of 46 participants attended.

The forum was opened by Associate Professor E.V. Yudina, Deputy Director for Academic and Research Activities of the branch. Elena Vasilyevna spoke to the students about the development of agriculture, its sectors, the university and its structural units, the degree programs of higher education and the specialties of secondary vocational education offered at the Tarsky Branch, as well as about the research and extracurricular activities of students.

The core of the forum was a practical quest, during which teams worked at stations on case tasks.

The students had to complete 6 stations:

— Obstacle course — here the students demonstrated their robot control skills; they had to drive the robot through a “snake” track and park it in an improvised garage.

—Metrologist — Associate Professor of the Department of Agronomy and Agroengineering M.A. Begunov conducted a test, where the students had to complete a task using a caliper to measure parts.

—Geolocation — at this stage, under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Agronomy and Agroengineering N.S. Eliseeva, the students measured the length and width of a classroom, calculated its area and volume, and observed demonstrations of various surveying instruments.

—Essential oil crops — Senior Lecturer of the Department of Agronomy and Agroengineering N.N. Kudryavtseva introduced the students to various types of essential oils. Then the students had to complete an atlas of essential oil crops by matching descriptions with images and attaching them.

—Dye crops — Associate Professor of the Department of Agronomy and Agroengineering S.N. Aleksandrova presented different types of dye crops, which contain pigments in their organs and tissues used in paint production. The students then had to complete an assignment: match the plant image with its name and determine which color is derived from it.

—Connect the wires correctly — under the guidance of Secondary Vocational Education instructor V.A. Pozhidaev, the students had to connect wires using special tools.

Since the forum had a competitive format, all teams received points for the tasks they completed.

The forum concluded with the awarding of teams. With a slight advantage, the team from Butakovskaya Secondary School won first place. The winners received valuable prizes. All participating teams also received incentive prizes from the branch.

We express our gratitude to the Committee on Education of the Administration of the Znamensky Municipal District of Omsk Region for providing the venue — Kiselevsk Secondary School — and to all schools for their active participation in the forum!
