Campus and City Tours for International Applicants at Omsk State Agrarian University: A Vector for Successful Adaptation

A well-chosen vector for the adaptation of international applicants contributes to raising the prestige of an educational institution. At Omsk State Agrarian University, a comprehensive approach is taken to the process of adapting international applicants.

On February 21, an excursion around the university campus was held to immerse international applicants in the academic environment. The applicants were introduced to the faculties and laboratories of Omsk State Agrarian University.

At the Faculty of Agrotechnology, Sergey Aleksandrovich Konovalov, Head of the Department of Food Products and Food Biotechnology, guided the applicants through the facilities, presenting the educational process, research projects, and developments of the department.

At the International Relations Office of Omsk State Agrarian University, international applicants met with Olga Vitalyevna Kosenchuk, Head of the Center for Research in Economics and Innovation and Professor of the Department of Management and Marketing of the Faculty of Economics. She introduced the prospective students to the university’s scientific and project activities and spoke about the opportunities and prospects for research within the Center.

One of the university’s main points of pride is its Botanical Garden. The collection includes more than 1,300 different species, varieties, and cultivars of plants. The visit to the greenhouse, which contains over 300 species of tropical and subtropical plants, was a particularly bright highlight for the international applicants.

Over the weekend, students and activists of the Intercultural Student Center — Vasilisa Kuznetsova, Alexander Medvedev, Denis Belousov, and Alexander Shashkin — organized a city tour for applicants from Benin, Indonesia, and India. The excursion began with a visit to the Pushkin Library. The international applicants were shown the reading rooms with foreign literature in the original languages, the genealogical tree of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, and exhibits dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Afterward, Omsk State Agrarian University students guided their guests through the city’s landmarks and historical monuments.

Following the winter tour of Omsk, the group continued their friendly interaction at a café, playing board games. In the process, the future students learned new Russian words in a playful form that they will be able to use in everyday life.

Over the weekend, university students organized a city tour for us. Our meeting point was one of the largest libraries in Omsk — the Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin Library. I had the chance to observe the architecture of the buildings, visit several landmarks, and see how well-developed and beautiful the city of Omsk is. I also noticed that there are many historical monuments here. The walk gave me great joy. Thank you very much!”
