Eco-marines action at Omsk SAU

On May 12, over 150 people participated in an environmental action "Eco-marines" held on Omsk State Agrarian University campus. The subbotnik was supported by Russian Environmental Operator (REO), a public state-founded entity ensuring environment protection and proper observation of laws in this sphere.

 Eco-marines landed at the shores of lake Sergeyevskoye and lake Ozerki located on Omsk SAU campus.

The event was attended by representatives of executive authorities and leaders of environmental movements: Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Omsk Region Alexander Serdyukov , Head of the Organizational and Legal Office of the Omsk City Administration Public Security Department Ekaterina Maltseva, Head of the Regional Executive Committee of the All-Russia People's Front (ONF) in the Omsk Region Suzanna Egiyan. A small demonstration and a flash mob were held during the action, as well as a presentation of Russian Students' Squads activities.

Omsk SAU Vice-rector for Youth Work Zhanna Shmidt and Head of the public organisation "The Earth - Our Common Home" Nina Popolzukhina greeted "Eco-marines" participants.

During the action, they cleaned coastlines of two lakes and collected over 200 garbage bags and removed several car tires from the water. Volunteers also helped to clean the territory near IV academic building and in the Botanical Garden. After cleaning, the participants had a tea break.

Then, Head of the Department of Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Water Use Olga Nezhevlyak and Vice-rector's for Youth Work assistant Andrey Zabudsky held an award ceremony.

We express our gratitude to all the participants of the event for their careful attitude to preserving environment. We are especially grateful to the Service of the Vice-rector for Administrative and Economic Work represented by the acting head of the Department of Social and Household Support Leila Chertkova and the Head of the Department of Integrated Security Yuri Mosin.

Supported by REO, all-Russian subbotniks are held from the end of April to May 15. Over 40 regions of Russia participate in these events, and the Omsk Region is among those 10 of them that held the most massive actions. Large subbotniks were also held in Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan, Vologda Region, Tambov Region, Kemerovo Region, Sevastopol, etc. 

In our region, the subbotnik was organised by NGO of eco-volunteers "Delai" activists. Many organisations helped in holding this event, such as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Omsk Region, the regional waste management company "Magnit", the Public Security Department of the Omsk City Administration, the regional executive committee of the ONF in the Omsk Region, the Omsk regional public environmental organization "The Earth - Our Common Home".
