Faculty Announces Winner of the “Best in Profession – Veterinarian” Contest

On December 6, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Omsk SAU held the award ceremony for the winners of the university student professional skills competition “Best in Profession – Veterinarian.”

The purpose of the contest is to assess the level of professional competencies and clinical thinking acquired by future veterinary specialists.

A total of 60 students took part in the competition. Forty-eight advanced to the second stage, which consisted of testing, and 10 students became finalists: Polina Ivanova, Polina Konovalova, Daria Khudyakova, Natalia Borodulina, Daria Tanshina, Pavel Prokopyuk, Matvey Glotov, Ksenia Rigina, Garik Oganesyan, and Artem Shilin.

The third stage required participants to complete a practical assignment under production conditions. This year, the final stage was held at the Department of Zoo-Veterinary Support of Productive Animals (on-site), based at Omsk Breeding Farm JSC in the Maryanovsky District.

The practical stage included tasks where students demonstrated skills in blood sampling and parenteral drug administration, as well as clinical examination of cows and veterinary decision-making in selecting medications for the treatment and prevention of diseases registered at the dairy complex.

The jury consisted of Konstantin Andreevich Shlegel, Chief Veterinary Officer of Omsk Breeding Farm company; Tatiana Vladimirovna Boyko, Head of the Department of Diagnostics, Internal Non-Contagious Diseases, Pharmacology, Surgery, and Obstetrics; and Ekaterina Sergeevna Dochilova, Associate Professor of the Department.
