Grant for creating an ecopark was won

Out of 146 Omsk Region non-commercial organizations participating in the contest, 111 received funding. Omsk SAU-based regional ecological organization "The Earth - Our Common Home", headed by Professor of the Department of Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Biology N.A. Popolzukhina is among the winners.

In June 2021, the Ministry of Regional Policy and Mass Communications of the Omsk Region announced a competition among non-profit organizations. They were supposed to compete for subsidies for the civil society development, issued by the Presidential Grant Foundation.

Our project is about creating a comfortable and environmentally-friendly space for students and teachers of the university, campus residents, and Omsk people in general. It's intended to give students soft skills such as ecological thinking that's going to be promoted through eco-education.

"This project, as well as many other our projects corresponds to focal directions of Omsk State Agrarian University activities that are described in its Statute. To promote eco-education and eco-thinking among students of different universities, schools and colleges, we plan to organize excursions to Omsk SAU Botanical Garden and Zoological Museum, and we'd also like to host several seminars.

Also, there will be wooden sculptures of some Red List animals living in the region placed in the university Arboretum. Each sculpture will have a short information table, so people will enrich their knowledge about these animals.

To organize a favorable environmentally-friendly area in the Arboretum located on campus, we're going to purchase and plant ornamental shrubs and flower seedlings, install park benches and rubbish bins. Thus, one more nice and neat nook will appear on campus, and it'll be a good place for rest for Omsk SAU students and lecturers, as well as for numerous citizens and guests”.
