More than 20 thousand hectares in Novovarshavsky District of the Omsk Region are sown with wheat varieties created at Omsk SAU

On July 24, a meeting was held at Novovarshavskaya seed station. Farmers saw the new varieties of bronus inermis and spring soft wheat bred at Omsk SAU (OmGAU 100 variety), and they exchanged experience in the field of cultivation technologies.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region, district administration officers, agriculture authorities, agricultural producers of Novovarshavsky, Tavrichesky, Poltava Regions, as well as representatives of JSC Shchelkovo-Agrohim.

Omsk State Agrarian University was represented by Vladimir Kumpan, Vice-rector for Training and Production Activities and Alexander Chursin, Head of the Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Breeding and Seed Production of Field Crops named after S. I. Leontiev of the educational and experimental farm.

At a plenary session held during the meeting, Vladimir Kumpan spoke about the achievements of Omsk SAU scientists in the field of breeding and cultivation agrotechnology of grains and leguminous crops.  Alexander Chursin spoke about the varieties bred at Omsk State Agrarian University and gave some pieces of advice to farmers. When the official part of the meeting was over, the participants went to the fields, where they saw varieties of agricultural crops and elements of their cultivation technology.

Even when the weather is extremely hot, there are good prospects for crop yields.

The participants highly appreciated OmGAU 100 soft spring wheat. They noted its value for production and decided to purchase seeds and cultivate OmGAU 100 in their farms.
