Omsk SAU began implementing project "Omsk Irtysh Region Eco-generation"

The project was chosen as winner of a contest for the youth initiatives. The contest was held as part of the all-Russian youth forum "Ecosystema".

On October 13, a round table debate "Solving environmental problems". The meeting was attended by 20 student volunteers interested in participating in such events. Nina Popolzukhina, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Department of Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Biology, Chairman of the Council of the Omsk Regional Public Environmental Organization "Earth is our Common Home" and Korolev Alexander, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Biology also attended the meeting.

The participants discussed events to be held as part of the project.

They agreed that the following events will be held in the nearest weeks:

•  Strategic session of environmental volunteers;
•  Environmental dictation - November 11, 2021;
•  Urban ecological and geographical game "The Earth Day" - November 25, 2021;
•  Lecture on sustainable consumption;
•  Eco-lessons held in Omsk secondary schools;
•  Visit to the animal shelter on October 23 and 30, 2021.

The project is implemented within the framework of the Agreement on the Provision of grants subsidised from the Federal budget to Russian citizens who won the All-Russian Competition of Youth Projects among Natural Persons in 2021 No. 091-11-2021-823.

The event co-organizers are:

•  Faculty of Agrochemistry, Soil Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering and Water Use,
•  Department of Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Biology,
•  Omsk Regional Public Environmental Organization "Earth is Our Common Home",
•  "Globus" Volunteer Center
•  All-Russian volunteer organization "Delai!"

Also on October 13, the first 20 project participants joined a lecture and a master class on sustainable consumption in Omsk ecological workshop "ECOLAB". Head of the workshop Andrey Gurkovsky read out the lection. #ECOLAB is a workshop, a space, and people. It is a place that promotes responsible attitude to the environment, proper management of natural resources and wastes, in particular plastic. It's possible to recycle most types of plastic using the workshop equipment, and it can also be used for creating new things.

The project will contribute to achieving sustainable development goals No. 12 (Responsible consumption and production) and 13 (Climate action) by promoting evrinonmental consciousness.
