Omsk SAU performance in THE Impact Rankings

The world ranking designed by the well-known Times Higher Education magazine measures the universities contribution to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the UN.

The Sustainable Development Goals are designed to address the global challenges facing humanity, improve our well-being and preserve the future of the planet. Thus, the ranking methodology covers all aspects of science and education at a university, as well as the "third mission of the university", which is contribution to the development of society. The SDGs allow comprehensive evaluation of the university’s efforts in various fields, from combating poverty and creating an environmentally friendly campus to ensuring decent working conditions and inclusive education. The range of analyzed indicators is extremely wide — university budget expenditures on cultural events, campus accessibility for handicapped people, the number of research projects in the field of sustainable development, waste management methods on campus, the availability of financial support for low-income students, etc.

In 2023, more than 1500 universities and colleges from different countries participated in the International Ranking, including 86 Russian ones. Along with the majority of Russian universities, Omsk State Agrarian University was ranked in the category 1001+. According to THE Impact Rankings, we are in 3rd place among agricultural universities of the country.

Traditionally, our scientists' efforts to combat hunger and ensure local and global food security have received high grades. As in previous years, according to the SDG-2 "Zero hunger", Omsk State Agrarian University is ranked 201-300. Other strong sides of the university's activities are efforts to create sustainable cities and communities (SDG-11, Omsk SAU is ranked 601-800), as well as SDG-1 "No poverty" (601-800). Our efforts to establish global cooperation in the field of sustainable development (SDG-17) and to ensure the good health and well-being of the population (SDG-3) were also evaluated.

A distinctive feature of THE Impact Rankings is the requirement to prove statistical data with pieces of evidence to ensure an honest assessment of participants and exclude falsifications.

The International Relations Department is grateful to all university departments that help provide data and evidence for international rankings.
