Omsk SAU Professor lectured students of Hartpury College

On November 19, students of Hartpury University and Hartpury College attented the online lection on selective breeding and seed production of leguminous crops.

Hartpury is an educational institution consisting of the University and College located at the same place and having similar names. It is one of the leading higher education institutions in the United Kingdom, dealing with issues of agriculture, animal husbandry, horse breeding, equestrian sports and basic veterinary education. This institutions trains Bachelors, Masters and PhDs. The higher educational institution is located in the eponymous county of Gloucestershire, in the South West England. It has a well developed base for the practical use of scientific knowledge and research.

On November 19, the online lection for Hartpury College students studying Agronomy at the Department of Animal Husbandry and Agronomy was held. The teleconference was organized by a teacher and agronomist Patrick Hall Tandy who successfully finished a three-week internship in Omsk in 2019. Nina Kazydub, Professor at the Department of Horticulture, Forestry and Plant Protection, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, and senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages, translator of the Linguistic Center Jacopo Vigna-Taglianty represented Omsk State Agrarian University during this event.

It is the second lecture on legumes selective breeding and seed production issues that Hartpury College listened to. This event is primarily aimed at giving students a set of certain skills and competencies, as well as promoting the value of legumes in the context of  sustainable food production to endure food security and nutrition. Hartpury College students obtained basic competencies in terms of theoretical issues, got acquainted with the key concepts of breeding and seed production of leguminous crops, and improved their understanding of sustainable rural development. Moreover, the lection helped to disseminate information about numerous advantages of growing and consuming legumes.

At the end of the online lecture, Hartpury students participated in the discussion. Also, there was a quiz on the understanding the issues of selective breeding of leguminous crops.
