Omsk SAU Skiers Open the Competitive Sports Season

On December 7-8, the ski base of the Children Health Camp “Alpiyskiy” hosted the regional competitions "The Opening of the Winter Sports Season for prizes” Children Health Camp “Alpiyskiy” LLC.

This year, the event gathered a record number of athletes. On the first day of the competition, 440 skiers took part in the freestyle race. On the second day, 283 athletes competed in the classical style race.

The participants included both adult and very young athletes from Omsk and from 16 districts of the Omsk Region (Muromtsevsky, Odessky, Okoneshnikovsky, Sherbakulsky, Isilkulsky, Gorkovsky, Krutinsky, Omsky, Sedelnikovsky, Tavrichesky, Azovsky, Pavlogradsky, Moskalenky, Nizhneomsky, Znamensky, and Bolsherechensky), Kalachinsk, as well as teams of Omsk educational institutions: Omsk State Technical University, Siberian State Automobile and Highway University, Omsk State Agrarian University named after P.A. Stolypin — and several sports schools and clubs: "Central Ski Sports School of the Olympic Reserve ", "Sports School  Krutaya Gorka", "Regional Sports School ", "Academy of Biathlon and Winter Sports", and the Budgetary Educational Institution of Additional Education of the Lyubinsky Municipal District "Sports School named after A.M. Volodchenko".

Kristina Semenikhina, a first-year student of the Faculty of Economics (Group B-11 UCHET) at Omsk SAU, became champion in her age group and won the overall standings on both competition days.

Egor Appasov, a student of the Faculty of Land Management (Group S-11PG), placed 5th in the “Juniors (2005–2006)” category on the first day of the competition. His groupmate, Alexander Kosterin, competed in the strongest age category, “Men (2004 and older),” finishing 14th with a time of 13:57.

Vadim Kolomiets (Group UKAB 11-TO) competed in the classical style race in the “Boys (2007–2008)” category and took 7th place with a result of 16:20.

We wish our skiers the best of luck at the Siberian Sports Triad Festival, which will take place on December 12–13 on the Omsk SAU ski track, and we warmly invite everyone to come and support our athletes!
