Omsk SAU student described her Erasmus+ program experience

Polina Vergasova, a 5th-year student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, is undergoing an internship at the Estonian University of Life Sciences in the city of Tartu.

Though the training is still ongoing, the first impressions and the student life itself were very interesting, as Polina told us.

"I am very grateful to the Omsk SAU International Relations Department for helping me organize my student mobility. And it's great that at our university, students can get experience of international education. I was awarded a grant to study in Estonia for the summer semester of 2020.

How is it going here? The first week was a kind of introduction. We are students from different countries: France, Germany, Portugal, Ukraine, Brazil, Iran, Canada, Israel, Belarus, Georgia, Turkey, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Latvia, etc. The International Department of the Estonian University of Life Sciences organized a trip for us. We visited picturesque forests around Tartu. We also organized an international dinner, and each student had to prepare something from their country's cuisine. Once we've visited an old mill next to Tartu.

As for studying process, it's performed in English. However, I don't have any difficulties in understanding, writing or listening. Unfortunately, now we have to study online because of the coronavirus threat. However, everything is organized really well. In Estonia, the full-time training implies the use of high tech. Most students carry laptops or tablets. Lectures are available online before the lesson, and during the real-life lecture, we can listen to the lecturer and adjust the presentation given to us.

I had an internship in one of the best veterinary clinics in Estonia, perhaps, even in Europe. The clinic is very large, it has a lot of modern equipment. I have gained invaluable experience that will help me become a more qualified veterinarian in the future!

I really liked the Estonian University of Life Sciences in Tartu, it has rich history, and it is very well equipped. I recommend everyone who is interested in getting such an experience to try their hand! It is very interesting and exciting; you can not only get European education, but also meet many friends from different countries of the world!"
