Omsk SAU students at the All-Russian Student Leadership Forum Yugra International -2024
From October 7 to 11, students of Omsk State Agrarian University took part in the forum of student leaders of Russian universities "Yurga International-2024" in Nizhnevartovsk.
The forum brought together 100 students, including 70 foreign students from Russian universities. Omsk State Agrarian University was proudly represented by foreign students from Kazakhstan Victoria Neumyvakina (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM)) and Ksenia Zgurskaya (Faculty of Zootechny, Commodity Science and Standardisation (FZTS)), student from Egypt Asmaa Idris (Agrotechnological Faculty (ATF), a student from Russia Valeria Milyutina (Faculty of Economics (EF), and of course, an invaluable participant in many regional, national and international events, the beloved mascot of Omsk State Agrarian University is the Crocodile Gosha, who became the main inspiration for the culinary masterpiece made by our students during the participation in the forum.
For three days, the participants worked on interactive platforms on three tracks: "Employment of Ugra Enterprises", "Business and Entrepreneurship", "Business Planning", attended trainings on generating business ideas, creating business models and presenting projects, participated in motivational meetings with entrepreneurs, and also went on excursions to industrial enterprises of Ugra. Regional and Russian experts, business coaches and entrepreneurs performed for them on a large-scale educational platform. And all this is so that, following the results of the forum, students could defend their own business project, analyze the risks and opportunities, and get an expert opinion from the competition committee on the prospects of the ideas presented.
Asmaa Idris shared her impressions:
"I took part in the Yugra International 2024 forum, where I learned how to become a businesswoman and create my own project. Upon arrival in the city, we were taken to Nizhnevartovsk State University, where we were divided into groups for teamwork. Every day we listened to lectures from invited speakers and worked on developing ideas for our business projects. My idea was to work with the university's research team to develop new wheat varieties so that they could be used in two directions in the future. The first direction is the production of high–quality flour and, as a result, the production of various types of bread and cakes from it. The second direction is in medicine: we could extract chemical components from a plant and use them to produce medicines. Both directions can bring good profits. After the lectures, we had guided tours. On the first day we visited industrial companies, on the second day we went on a city tour, got acquainted with its history, and visited the museum. I was most impressed with the plants because they were clean: they were not infected with microorganisms such as fungi. For example, the wheat I saw there was not susceptible to brown rust. This disease has become a global problem as it has led to a decline in wheat yields worldwide. But these samples from the 20th century were very clean. On the last day of the forum, we presented our projects at the final defense. After that, we had the opportunity to discuss our ideas with experts. In the end, all the participants received certificates, and we celebrated our success."
Victoria Neumyvakina:
"First of all, I would like to thank our Omsk State Agrarian University for allowing us to attend this forum, as well as Nizhnevartovsk State University for hosting such an event together with Rosmolodezh.Grants. On the first day, we were kindly greeted by a lovely volunteer who, despite some language barriers and personalities, gathered us together, supervised everyone and took us to a delicious meal at a restaurant! I would like to mention the restaurant's special attitude towards vegetarians, because they have prepared an absolutely separate menu, no worse than usual, to please everyone! Next, we attended the welcome ceremony at the NVSU itself, where we held bonding games, got to know each other, and, of course, got to know the forum itself. The next day, we went to the opening ceremony. Interesting speakers and presenters told us about the essence and basics of the forum: business planning and entrepreneurship, on the basis of which we will make our own projects and defend them at the end of the forum. The second day was filled with information and lectures that can be useful not only for economists, lawyers, etc., but also for an ordinary person, just like us, telling their success stories and achievements. In the middle of the day, some of the people left for a master class at a ceramic studio, while some of the students went to a pastry shop and decorated the cakes according to their wishes and tastes. Well, a third of the people went to the Nizhnevartovsk enterprise, its base. In the evening, upon everyone's return, NVSU organized a city tour for foreign and nonresident students. We visited the monument to the Russian worker, the house of old Russian life, visited the embankment and took a comfortable ride through the city at night! The last, third day, was filled with work in teams to improve their projects. The Omsk SAU team had a project called RusLIFE, an information environment aimed at adapting foreign citizens, and in particular students. The platform offered help with orientation, help with documents, and popular youth slang for better understanding and orientation in a conversation between a foreigner and a Russian. The environment would contain a chat, video and audio calls, and the possibility of a meeting. As a result, the team of Omsk State Agrarian University "Orange Skittles" took the first place in the project presentation nomination and was generously awarded! And in the evening, there was a disco with a buffet, where there were interesting performances, fashion shows, contests and music! All the students had only positive emotions and will have vivid memories!"
Congratulations to our team on winning the prize and wish them even more creative ideas and success in implementing their business projects!
The project is being implemented with the support of Rosmolodezh.Grants
