Omsk SAU Students Successfully Complete a Semester of Study in Belarus with Support from the President of the Russian Federation Scholarship

From September 23, 2024 to January 22, 2025, Anastasia Korovina, a 3rd-year undergraduate student at the Faculty of Economics, Elizaveta Kudentsova and Alina Shulga, 3rd-year undergraduate students at the Faculty of Land Management, completed semester studies at the Belarusian State Order of the October Revolution and the Red Banner of Labor Agricultural Academy (BSAA). Their studies were made possible by grant funding received through the competition for the President of the Russian Federation Scholarship for study abroad.

The study period in Belarus was eventful. From the very first days, meetings were organized for the students with staff from the International Cooperation Office, faculty deans, and professors, which helped them understand the structure of the educational process and the specifics of the Belarusian academy's system.

Throughout the semester, the students attended classes at the academy, chosen based on their scientific and professional interests. In addition to gaining theoretical knowledge, the students also visited Belarusian agribusiness enterprises to learn about their production processes, and conducted a comparative analysis of the legislative frameworks and organizational structures in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. This allowed them to gain deeper knowledge in their chosen specialties and acquire valuable practical experience, which was later presented in scientific articles published jointly with Belarusian instructors and through their participation in international conferences.

The students also actively participated in sports competitions between BSAA faculties and in the academy's cultural life. They went on excursions to major Belarusian cities: Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, and Grodno, which allowed them to learn about the country's history, its cultural features, and national traditions.

Anastasia Korovina:
“During my studies in Belarus, I actively participated in various faculty events and took part in several scientific conferences. These events were useful for expanding professional horizons and exchanging ideas with colleagues from other universities and countries (China, Africa). As part of my research activities, several articles on relevant topics were published in co-authorship with instructors, such as: ‘Analysis of Labor Rationing and Mechanized Field Work in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation’, ‘Analysis and Ways to Improve the Use of an Enterprise's Fixed Assets’, ‘The Agro-Industrial Complex in the Context of Globalization’, ‘Analysis of the Standard of Living in Omsk’. These publications helped me improve my understanding of the issues discussed. While studying in Belarus, I not only expanded my knowledge in the field of the agro-industrial complex but also acquired valuable competencies and learned from the experience of my foreign colleagues in strategic management, production process management, finance, and culture. I also developed teamwork, public speaking, and communication skills with various kinds of people, which will undoubtedly be useful in my future professional activities. The internship in the Republic of Belarus was a wonderful opportunity for scientific and personal growth. The knowledge gained, the experience of participating in research activities, and familiarity with the country's culture left unforgettable impressions and will positively impact my professional future.”

Elizaveta Kudentsova:
“This internship gave me a unique opportunity to study the features of regulatory and legal framework for land relations in the Republic of Belarus, to deepen my knowledge in the field of land cadastre, cartography, and urban planning, to develop skills for working in an intercultural environment and the ability to find a common language with colleagues from another country, and to master the skills of public speaking and preparing scientific publications at an international level. Furthermore, participation in the educational and cultural program helped me broaden my horizons, strengthen professional contacts, and improve my communication skills. Studying at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy was an unforgettable experience for me, which opened new professional and personal horizons. I express my sincere gratitude to the academy, its teachers, and students for their help, support, and for creating a favorable atmosphere for learning and research.”

Alina Shulga:
“My stay at the Belarusian State of the Order of October Revolution and the Red Banner of Labor Agricultural Academy gave me the opportunity to see the country myself and get acquainted with its culture. I visited cities such as: Mogilev, Gomel, Brest, Grodno, Minsk, Orsha, Vitebsk. Each city has its own unique history. I am very glad that thanks to the competition for the President of the Russian Federation Scholarship for study abroad, I managed to get to know this wonderful country. I also must mention the flight and living in the dormitory. Even though it was my first flight, it went perfectly. In the dormitory, I lived on the 4th floor in a triple room with all amenities. As a student of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, I was able to gain new theoretical and practical knowledge, the opportunity to study new subjects, get acquainted with and acquire skills in working with new software that may be useful in my future professional activities. Studying at the leading agricultural institution of higher education in the Republic of Belarus contributed to the deepening of my professional knowledge, consolidation of competencies, allowed me to broaden my general outlook, and became an incentive for becoming a future highly qualified specialist in land management, cadastre, and geodesy.”

We congratulate the students on the excellent completion of their studies at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy. We wish them high professional, creative, and personal achievements and are confident that the experience of studying abroad will help them reach great heights in their chosen professional fields.

We also express our sincere gratitude to the Rector, the International Cooperation Office, the deans, and the entire staff of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy for their assistance in organizing this mobility, their warm welcome, and their professionalism in teaching our scholarship recipients.

And we remind all other Omsk SAU students that you also have the opportunity to study for a semester on the President of the Russian Federation Scholarship at any university in friendly countries, to learn from the experience of foreign colleagues, to deepen your knowledge in your specialty, and to improve your professional competencies.
