Omsk SAU took part in the Interuniversity Festival of National Cultures “Uniting the World”

On November 6, the Interuniversity Festival of National Cultures “Uniting the World” dedicated to the Day of National Unity was held at the Concert Hall of the Regional Center for Public Relations.

Nine universities of Omsk, including Omsk SAU, presented creative performances showcasing the culture and traditions of the peoples of Russia, and organized an interactive exhibition in the foyer.

Our university represented Russian culture.

The interactive stand “His Majesty — Russian Bread” vividly demonstrated Russian traditions and reflected the agricultural profile of our university. The table was decorated with a samovar and bagels, matryoshkas, traditional wooden spoons and rattles, bowls and mugs. The centerpiece was a traditional Russian karavai and bread baked specially for the festival from wheat varieties developed by Omsk SAU scientists. All bakery products were lovingly prepared by faculty of the Department of Food Products and Biotechnology, Professor Natalya Leonidovna Chernopolskaya, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Assistant Yuliya Gennadyevna Rozenfeld.

The stand was presented by students Anna Ionina and Anastasia Karelova (Agrotechnological Faculty), together with staff of the Center for Social and Educational Work and Youth Policy Olga Vasilyevna Menkova and Maria Evgenyevna Kimmel. Creative support came from Oksana Stepanovna Petrova, Director of the Student Palace of Culture.

Festival guests enjoyed tasting bread, solving riddles, learning about Russian traditions, and admiring the originality of the Russian table presented by Omsk SAU.

Our university made a particularly bright impression on stage!

The folk dance ensemble “Sibir” (directed by Kseniya Sergeyevna Shturmer) performed one of the most famous Russian dances, “Kalinka,” recognized as a symbol of Russian folk art, conveying the vigor, spirit, and soul of the Russian people. The folk song ensemble “Istoki” (directed by Evgeniya Rudolfovna Berkunova) performed “The Sky Above the Water.” The heartfelt song captivated the audience and created a unique atmosphere with its melody and profound lyrics.

In total, 64 students from all faculties and the University College of Agribusiness, along with 12 teachers and staff members, participated in the festival. The delegation was accompanied by faculty supervisors and staff responsible for educational work. The group was headed by Andrey Ivanovich Zabudsky, Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy.

The festival became another step towards strengthening friendship among nations, promoting intercultural communication, and fostering the creative potential of students.

Alisa Kravchenko, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine:

“Yesterday I attended the Festival of National Cultures. I was deeply impressed by the atmosphere of the celebration. National costumes, music, and dances of different peoples were presented — it was so beautiful and engaging. I was especially amazed by the Chinese performances. The combination of electric guitar and wind instruments seemed unusual, but the students created the perfect harmony. There were also stands with different national cuisines. I got to taste purple and blue bread from Omsk SAU, representing Russian cuisine. At the end of the evening, everyone was treated to a delicious traditional karavai. It was fun and meaningful time!”

Maksim Kashin, Faculty of Technical Service in Agriculture:

“The festival was memorable for its bright performances and the interactive exhibition by Omsk universities. We learned about different cultures and met students from other institutions. The most memorable performance for me was the folk song ensemble Istoki.”

Ekaterina Mishlanova, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine:

“On November 6, the Interuniversity Festival of National Cultures took place. Before the concert, we could explore the traditions of different nationalities of Russia and friendly countries, and taste national dishes. On stage, there were many dances and songs — even representatives of China performed. Each performance was unique in its own way. I especially remember the vocal number from our university.”
