All leading educational institutions of the region participated in the championship, despite orienteering being included for the first time in the mandatory scoring of the regional university sports festival. The competitions were held on the territory of the stadium and ski trails of Omsk State Agrarian University (Omsk SAU).
Students had to locate control points in the terrain using a sport map and a compass. Participants started at one-minute intervals. The winner is the one who completes the required sequence of control points faster than their rivals.
It was a battle of strength, character, tactics, and will with every kilometer of the distance! The Omsk SAU team took second place, losing only one point to Omsk State Technical University (Omsk STU). Third place was taken by Siberian State Automobile and Highway Academy (SibADI).
The Omsk SAU team was represented by: Kristina Glushchenko, Elena Baskal, Kristina Semenikhina, Igor Shvebel, Egor Appasov, Roman Vlasov, Alexander Kosterin.
In the individual competition, 2nd place among men was taken by Egor Appasov, and among women by Kristina Semenikhina .
A warm, friendly atmosphere prevailed at the stadium. All Omsk SAU athletes performed successfully and earned points for the team. After the finish, the students eagerly discussed the specifics of the course, indicating that they all gave their best and enjoyed following the well-prepared trail.
We would like to acknowledge the work of the teachers from the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Omsk SAU, I. V. Teryokhina and I. A. Sukhorukova, who conducted the physical, technical, and tactical training of the university team.
