Omsk State Agrarian University—a regional and sectoral leader in the local ranking of the Siberian Federal District universities

The Association of Rating Compilers and the RAEX agency have published the second edition of local university rankings.

This is the largest project to evaluate Russian universities. In 2023, 304 universities from 79 regions were included in eight lists compiled separately for each federal district of Russia. The key feature of local rankings is a special methodology customized for regional universities. The new edition of the 2022 ranking criteria better reflects the correlation between a particular university and a region where it is located. Thus, when assessing the funding level, an amendment is now made to the average salary in a region. The list of study programs under consideration was expanded (the criterion now covers vocational training programs and other courses), and a criterion measuring the financing of science by business structures, including regional ones, was added.

There are more than 170 public and private higher education institutions in the Siberian Federal District. Thirty four of them were listed in the ranking. Of these, Omsk SAU is in 6th place (last year, we took 18th place). Omsk SAU holds the first place among six participants from the Omsk region and five agricultural universities of the Siberian Federal District.

Methodology

Local rankings contain three groups of indicators—"Education" (45%), "Science" (25%) and "Society" (30%). When assessing the first mission of universities—education, the quality of training, the staffing level, the competitiveness of master's degree courses, the variety of educational programs, the amount of funding, the results of students' performances at Russian student Olympiads were evaluated.
