Omsk State Agrarian University has retained its position in the local ranking of universities in the Siberian Federal District according to RAEX – 2024

For the third time, the RAEX ranking agency has compiled local university ratings for the federal districts of Russia. This is the largest project on the assessment of higher education in the country – the final tables include 299 universities from 79 subjects of the federation.

The main task of local ranking is to identify regional leaders and strong specialized universities, which, due to their narrow profile, rarely fall into the federal rankings of the institutional level. National leaders - universities included in the global ranking "Three University Missions" or in the list of the best Russian universities RAEX–100, were excluded from the study.

The methodology of local rankings noticeably differs from the approaches to compiling global and all-Russian lists. Thus, local rankings are based solely on objective data from independent sources: university surveys and online expert surveys were not used (they are used in the RAEX-100 ranking). Another difference is the list of criteria: in local rankings, special attention is paid to indicators characterizing the conditions for training high–quality personnel and the regional importance of the university. At the same time, the weight of some indicators that are traditionally important for global rankings has been reduced: scientific publications and their citations weigh only 12%, and indicators of international integration (foreign students, dual degree programs) do not affect places in local rankings at all. The study uses three groups of indicators that traditionally appear in all rankings of the "Three Missions of the University" – education, science and society.

The Siberian Federal District is quite numerous in terms of the number of participants: as last year, 34 educational organizations (out of 170 universities in the district) were included in the local list. It is noteworthy that in the top 10 in the Siberian Federal District there is a rich variety of types of universities - in addition to technical and classical universities, there are two agricultural, two pedagogical and two medical universities in the upper part of the list.

Omsk SAU retained the 6th place in the overall RAEX - 2024 ranking and entered the top 10 in the Siberian Federal District, this is the 1st place out of 5 agricultural universities of the Siberian Federal District included in the ranking and the 2nd place out of 6 Omsk universities.

According to the indicators of the sections "Education" and "Public activity", the university is the first among the agricultural universities of the Siberian Federal District. According to the section "Science", it is the fourth among all universities of the Siberian Federal District, but the 2nd place among agricultural ones.  Among Omsk universities in terms of indicators: the "Science" section of the university takes the 1st place, the "Social activities" section – the 2nd place, the "Education" section – the 3rd place.
