Omsk State Agrarian University held a roundtable discussion on «International Aspects of the Development of the Circular Economy in the Agro-Industrial Complex»

The meeting was organized by the Centre for Economics and Innovation Studies at the Faculty of Economics, Omsk State University.

The participants in the discussion, representatives of Omsk State Agrarian University and S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University in Astana, delved into the key aspects of advancing circular economy practices in the agricultural and industrial sectors of Russia and Kazakhstan. The colleagues from Astana presented their expertise in executing the IRN project named «An analysis of the challenges to the development of circular economy in Kazakhstan's agro-industry, with the aim of developing a model for utilizing its potential in contemporary conditions».

The reports generated significant interest among the participants:

·      The fundamental principles of implementing a circular economy in the agricultural and industrial sector of Kazakhstan are explored by Nurbakhyt Nurbopaevich Nurmukhametov, a Candidate of Economic Sciences and Acting Professor at the Department of Economics of the National Academy of Education «S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University».  

·      The prospects for developing comprehensive measures in the field of agriculture within the framework of a circular economic model are discussed by Akhmaral Bolatovna Temirova, Head of the Economics Department and Candidate of Economic Associate Professor at the same university.

·      Zamira Seydakhmetovna Mukhambetova, another Candidate of Economic Associate Professor from the Economics Department at National Academy of Education «S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University», delves into ways to address agricultural challenges in the face of changing climatic conditions.

·      An analysis of climate change and its impact on agricultural production in Kazakhstan is conducted by Gulzhan Tokhtargazyevna Kunafina, a Candidate of Economic Sciences and Associate Professor at the Department of Economics of the National Academy of Education «S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University».

·      The article «Waste Management in Crop Production: A Circular Economy Approach» is authored by Natalia Aleksandrovna Kuznetsova, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Management and Marketing at Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education Omsk State Agrarian University.

·      The development of the market for «green» bonds in Russia: an analysis by Oksana Aleksandrovna Kozlova, Doctor of Economics, Professor at the Department of Economics, Accounting, and Financial Control at Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education Omsk State Agrarian University.

The moderator of the discourse was Oksana Akeksandrovna Kozlova, a Doctor of Economics, who underscored the immense potential for collaboration inherent in this topic. She underscored the significance of collaborative scientific endeavors in the realm of circular system development and the transition towards the implementation of circular economy principles in Russia and Kazakhstan.

The Head of the KazATU delegation, Nurbakhyt Nurbopaevich Nurmukhametov, a Candidate of Economic Sciences, underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing issues that adversely impact the standard of living, such as waste management, emissions, and environmental concerns. Olga Vitalievna Kosenchuk, a Doctor of Economic Sciences and participant in the discussion, emphasized the necessity of a interdisciplinary approach to examining circular systems, with a particular focus on the economic, environmental, and social implications.
