Professorial Forum at Omsk SAU

This annual event was held at the university for the third time. This year's focus was on discussing the main directions and mechanisms for the development of scientific mentoring for young university scientists.

Rector, Doctor of Economics, Professor Oksana Viktorovna Shumakova awarded the winners of the university competitions "Mentor of Young Teachers", "Leading scientific schools" and made a presentation on "The scientific and educational ecosystem of Omsk State Agrarian University and its role in ensuring scientific and technological breakthroughs." The head of the university noted that "the research and innovation activities of the university are carried out in accordance with the tasks set for the scientific community by the President and the government of the Russian Federation. Russian science is one of the youngest in the world, if we talk about the age of scientists: almost 44% of researchers are younger than 39 years old. On average, the proportion of scientists under the age of 40 does not exceed 35% worldwide." Everything is being done at the Omsk State Agrarian University to create the most comfortable conditions for the self-realization of talented young people in science. Within the framework of the national project "Science and Universities" Omsk State Agrarian University is an active participant in the scientific and educational center, creates its own world-class centers and laboratories for advanced scientific research and training of a completely new formation with the funds of the grants received. Research and teaching staff and students develop skills in the field of technological entrepreneurship through participation in entrepreneurial trainings and acceleration programs. Flight schools are being created on the basis of Omsk and Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University (federal project "Personnel for unmanned aircraft systems"). Strategic tasks are being solved in the field of improving the genetic potential of farm animals, import substitution in breeding and seed production in accordance with the federal scientific and technical program for the development of agriculture until 2030. The most promising projects are in the field of breeding, genetics, and digital transformation of agricultural industries.

The merits of the university's mentors in 2023 were recognized at the All-Russian level: O.V. Shumakova - winner of the national award "Rector of the Year", G.A. Honin was awarded the silver medal "For contribution to the development of the agro-industrial complex of Russia", Pleshakova V.I., Kazydub N.G. became laureates of the National Award "Professor of the Year", Gavrilova N.B. received the honorary title "Honored Scientist of the Omsk region", Bobrenko I.A., Gavrilova N.B. - winners of the National competition "Golden Names of Higher Education". University competitions were organized and held as part of the Decade's initiatives: Kazydub N.G., Bazhenova O.P. - winners of the competition "Mentor of Young Teachers"; Shamanin V.P., Pleshakova V.I., Stukach V.F. - winners of the competition "Leading Scientific Schools".

The forum participants summed up the results of the implementation of the Year of Teacher and Mentor at the Agrarian University, heard and discussed 5 reports on the following thematic areas:

- formation and development of the scientific school of pharmacologists and toxicologists at Omsk State Agrarian University;

- experience and problems of training highly qualified personnel at the Department of Land Management;

- the role of a mentor in choosing a future profession;

- international and interdisciplinary aspects of scientific mentoring;

- the role of dissertation councils in the system of training scientific personnel.

The main contribution to the development of scientific mentoring at the university is made by scientific schools. To further develop scientific mentoring, to preserve and strengthen the positions achieved, the forum participants submitted proposals to the draft decision:

- to hold a competition of the leading scientific schools of the Omsk State Agrarian University once every two years;

-to hold a competition of the leading scientific schools of agricultural universities of the Siberian Federal District and take an active part in February this year;

- to create conditions for creative communication between professors and students at faculties (open lectures, participation of expert professors in extended meetings of scientific circles);

-to intensify the participation of university professors in the preparation of applications for mega grants of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, grants of the Russian Science Foundation.

The professorial forum was an excellent occasion for discussion and discussion by leading scientists of the Omsk State Agrarian University of the prospects for the development of science in our university. The events for the scientific community at the university do not end there, already on February 20, a solemn event dedicated to the Day of Russian Science will be held at the Student Culture Center.
