Remote sensing technologies in action: Omsk SAU and AO LC "Zerno Sibiri" launched a joint project

There was a landmark event for science and agriculture of the Omsk region. Omsk State Agrarian University and the AO LC "Zerno Sibiri" (logistics company "Grain of Siberia") have launched a joint project aimed at the digital transformation of agriculture.

In the Omsk region, within the framework of the project, it is planned to implement a complex of high-tech remote sensing services based on the use of unmanned aircraft systems on an ongoing basis. For more than six months, the partners conducted preparatory work aimed at developing analyzers of spectral and multispectral indicators of aerial photography, purchasing an unmanned aerial vehicle, testing it, and training in the use of unmanned aircraft systems for agricultural purposes.

Currently, effective farming is impossible without knowledge of the exact contours and reliefs of fields, operational data on the state of plants and soil. The simplest and most accessible way to obtain such information is aerial photography from UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). Foreign and domestic experience in the application of remote sensing technologies in agriculture has shown its high economic efficiency by ensuring quality control of technological work, making timely management decisions on the use of chemical and biological preparations, mineral and organic fertilizers, as well as ensuring accuracy and efficiency in their application.

The project makes it possible to implement the following range of services throughout the Omsk region: creation of electronic and 3D maps of fields; creation of thematic maps; inventory of farmland; operational monitoring of farmland; monitoring of agricultural lands; forecasting and crop assessment; assessment of the phytosanitary condition of crops; environmental monitoring of land, etc.

On July 8 in the fields of OOO "RUSCOM-Agro" of the Kormilovsky district partners successfully tested an unmanned aircraft complex. The plan by the end of 2022 is to ensure the implementation of a whole package of digital services based on the use of UAVs on an area of at least 50 thousand hectares.
