Solemn Opening of the A.P. Mayorov Prize Competition

On February 26, the official opening ceremony of the A.P. Mayorov Prize competition, established by joint-stock company Omsky Bacon for students of Omsk State Agrarian University, took place.

The main goal of the competition is to attract and select promising and talented young specialists in fields that are in high demand within the company.

In 2025, we celebrate the 95th anniversary of the birth of Artur Petrovich Mayorov — an outstanding graduate of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology of Omsk SAU, founder of Omsky Bacon, recipient of the Orders of Lenin and the Red Banner of Labor, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the USSR Council of Ministers Prize, and an exceptionally gifted professional and organizer.

The scale of Artur Mayorov’s personality is truly remarkable. He combined qualities that may seem incompatible: a man of a difficult fate — yet a top-level manager; an intellectual scholar — yet a practical industrialist with state-level vision. As General Director, he oversaw the construction of the country’s largest livestock enterprise in the Omsk region. A hero of his era, lifted to fame by his time, yet a person who remained humane, approachable, and humorous. His name rightfully stands alongside such prominent figures of our region as Dmitry Mikhailovich Karbyshev, Sergey Iosifovich Manyakin, and Valentina Pavlovna Bisyarina.

The event was moderated by Svetlana Vladimirovna Chernigova, Director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, who spoke about the long-standing partnership between Omsk SAU and joint-stock company Omsky Bacon.

Honored guests included:

• Svetlana Yurievna Komarova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Omsk SAU;

• Vitaly Viktorovich Rassokhin, Production Director of joint-stock company “Omsky Bekon” (graduate of Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology);

• Svetlana Alexandrovna Zavyalova, Head of the HR Department, joint-stock company “Omsky Bekon”;

• Viktoria Viktorovna Alekseyenko, Lead Specialist for Recruitment and Staff Development;

• Elena Konstantinovna Mishchenko, Specialist for Recruitment and Staff Development.

The company’s representatives presented the enterprise’s structure, the milestones of its development, future prospects for the pig-breeding complex, and career opportunities for today’s graduates of the university. Students were informed about the main stages of the competition, the deadlines for completing assignments, and, most importantly, the prizes awaiting the winners in the final stage.

At the end of the meeting, students had the chance to ask questions about career opportunities after participating in the competition, the conditions of internships at joint-stock company Omsky Bacon, and the prospects of obtaining a rewarding job after graduation.
