Start of new training within the framework of the project "Farmer's School"

The Omsk region has become part of a large-scale federal project for the third time.

On September 19, an event dedicated to the beginning of the training of a new stream of participants of the "Farmer's School" took place in Omsk State Agrarian University. This is a platform where the capabilities and resources of ministries, regions, universities, large businesses and farmers are combined to achieve more Sustainable Agriculture. During the training process, beginners and experienced farmers will acquire new knowledge that will allow them to start an agribusiness from scratch or take farming to a new level. Farmers are trained at the expense of the Russian Agricultural Bank (Rosselkhozbank).

42 students have already passed the competitive selection this year (in 2021 there were only 25 people, and in 2022 - 30 people). Every year the project impresses with its uniqueness, in this stream: 5 married couples, a mother of 6 children and a lot of representatives of farming dynasties. In 2023, a new specialization appeared in the training program - beekeeping.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk region Nikolai Mikhailovich Filonov made a welcoming speech.

He noted that

"The project was successfully launched three years ago in the region. It is important that farmers not only immerse themselves in the educational process at Omsk State Agrarian University, but also hone their practical skills at leading agricultural enterprises."

Lev Nikolaevich Yaneev, Director of the Omsk branch of "Rosselkhozbank", focused on the fact that

"Rosselkhozbank and Omsk State Agrarian University are united by years of cooperation: this is both a campus project and students who receive scholarships from the Rosselkhozbank for their excellent studies and scientific activities, and this year the bank allocates 2 grants to support scientific projects of teachers. I would like to wish the listeners of the project that you gain experience in financial cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, learn how to make a business plan and much more."

Dmitry Alexandrovich Golovanov, Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk region, Chairman of the Board of the Agro-Industrial Union of the Omsk region stressed that

"It is of great importance that the agricultural university provides knowledge in the field of digitalization of agriculture, entrepreneurship in the field of agriculture. These are relevant competencies for today. The students of the "Farmer's School" will visit the advanced enterprises that are part of the Agro-Industrial Union, they will see the level to which it is worth striving. I wish you successful implementation of your goals!"

The heads of the educational modules: in crop production - Alexey Alekseevich Gaivas, Dean of the Faculty of Agrotechnology; in animal Husbandry and Beekeeping – Olga Vitalievna Kosenchuk, Dean of the Faculty of Zootechny, Commodity Science and Standardization; in economic profile - Oleg Anatolyevich Blinov, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, noted that they are primarily committed to dialogue and cooperation.

Olga Nikolaevna Merkulova, the head of the farm, who scored the highest number of points in the competitive selection, said that she graduated from the agrarian university 19 years ago, not realizing then how much she will get interested in agriculture.

"We all have different paths, but the love of the land led us all to the Farmer's School. I am pleasantly amazed at how well the project has been developed, a convenient platform where theoretical materials are placed. I am sure that after graduation, no one will have any unanswered questions."

At the end of the meeting, the new students of the "Farmer's School" received gifts with the symbols of the university, that will be useful in the learning process. Congratulations to the farmers on the start of the school year and wish them success in all their endeavors!
