"Student's Vision of the World”: the results of the international forum

From 10th to 18th of December, the first international intercultural online forum “Student's Vision of the World” was held on the initiative of the International Relations Department of Omsk State Agrarian University.

The purpose of this Forum is to organize intercultural communication, expand the sphere of active student life and develop joint international projects. It should be noted that the forum was held in English.

This year, the Forum was represented by three launch platforms:

1.     "Student's Vision of the Future after COVID-19" - photo and essay contest in English. The purpose of this platform is to present the vision of students from various universities and countries of what our life will be like after the pandemic.

2.     "Student's Vision of the University's Life" - video contest in English. This platform is dedicated to student life in the 21st century.

3.     "Student's Vision of the other Nations" - a contest, which aim is to break down stereotypes about other cultures.

This forum aroused great interest from foreign and Russian universities, information about it was published on official websites and in social networks by such universities as the University of National and World Economy in Sofia (Bulgaria), University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice (Slovakia), Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland), Shanxi Agricultural University (China) and many others.

Students sent their works to the forum organizers, after that the works were evaluated and published in the group on Facebook. Since the beginning of the forum “Student's Vision of the World”, 120 works have been sent and published. Participants could rate the posts they liked and comment on them. In total, 373 people from 26 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and America took part in this forum.

As part of the forum, on December 10 an interactive online meeting platform for students of Omsk State Agrarian University and Shanxi Agricultural University was organized. Students had the opportunity to share their impressions about cultural peculiarities and stereotypes about Russia and China, to talk about their cultures, their Universities, the peculiarities of student life in their countries. Representatives of both universities expressed the desire to continue and develop mutual cooperation between universities.

The most active part in the forum was taken by students of fourteen universities; among them were students of the Omsk State Agrarian University named after P. A. Stolypin and the Siberian State Automobile and Highway University. In addition to Omsk universities, students of the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology - MVA named after K. I. Skryabin, Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, Ogarev Mordovia State University, the Buryat State Academy of Agriculture, Ural State University of Economics, Nizhnevartovsk State University, Shanxi Agricultural University (Shanxi, People's Republic of China), Academician Y.
