The Intercultural Student Center held an interactive game with first-year students

On October 23, the Intercultural Student Center held an interactive game in English “Geographical Brainfight” for environmental science students.

The students remembered the countries with which Omsk SAU actively cooperates: Belarus, China, India.  The game included two big blocks: English language practice and country studies. In the first block first-year students successfully showed themselves in translation, guessing rebuses in the format “Word Game”, unraveling the meanings of stable English expressions.

The second block “Country Studies” included questions on erudition and development of general outlook. It was represented by the following categories of questions: “Who is it?”, ‘Traditions and customs’, ‘Around the world’.  The questions in the “Who is it?” category was devoted to famous personalities from Russia, Belarus, China and a number of other countries. The category “Traditions and customs” opened the students' eyes to the most unusual traditions of these countries, and also the freshmen learned what is the first Russian tradition that delegations from other countries get acquainted with when they come to Russia. In the last category, “Around the World,” students tested their knowledge of geography and history thanks to questions about famous landmarks not only in Russia, but also in some friendly countries.

Egor Gorobtsov, B12Ekl:

“The interactive game “Geographical Brainstorming” was well organized, we had an interesting and useful time. I practiced my English together with the other participants and also remembered the culture of other countries. I will remember this event for a long time!”

Veronika Telyatnikova, B12Ekl:

“I really liked the atmosphere at the event. It was comfortable and pleasant to work. I also learned a lot of new things from the answers of my classmates. I would like to participate again!”
