The professor from Omsk SAU participated in the XX International Youth Forum «Priority Challenges for Young Scientists of the Agro-Industrial Complex» and the Summer School for Young Scientists

From June 17-20, Blagoveshchensk hosted the 20th anniversary International Youth Forum on «Priority Challenges for Young Scientists of the Agro-Industrial Complex» and the «Priority 2030 Summer School for Young Scientists: Agricultural Science as a Ticket to the Future».

The event, which gathered together representatives from the country's leading agricultural education and research institutions, was hosted by the Far Eastern State Agrarian University, with the support of the «Agroeducation» Association and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Natalia Nikolaevna Zharkova, Professor and Doctor of Agricultural Sciences from the Department of Ecology, Natural Resource Management, and Biology at the Faculty of Agrochemistry, Soil Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Engineering and Water Resources Exploitation at Omsk State Agrarian University, participated in the forum.

For several days, young scientists from various parts of the country gathered to exchange experiences in research and international collaboration in order to achieve sustainable development goals in the agricultural industry. The event also served as a platform for discussing the specifics of cooperation between agricultural universities and public organizations with the aim of promoting agricultural science and education. Additionally, the event focused on the stages of becoming a young scientist as well as various other significant areas of activity.

Within the context of the forum, there was a meeting of the All-Russian Council of Young Scientists and Specialists from Agricultural Educational and Research Institutions, as well as a Summer School for Young Scientists entitled «Priority 2030: Agriculture Science is the Key to the Future». Additionally, advanced training was provided under the «Organization of Research Project Management» program.

Nina Alexandrovna Ivanova, the Director of the Department for Scientific and Technological Policy and Education at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, delivered an opening speech at the plenary session of the event. At the meeting of the All-Russian Council of Young Scientists and Specialists from Agricultural Educational and Research Institutions, N.N. Zharkova presented a report titled «The Activities of the Council for Young Scientists at Omsk State Agrarian University in Implementing Key Initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology».

The initiatives of the Decade of Science aim to attract talented young people to research and development. These initiatives provide an opportunity for in-depth study of scientific disciplines, as well as the development of other useful skills such as teamwork, project management, and presentation of scientific findings. Participants can also engage with like-minded individuals, learn from leading Russian and international scientists, and participate in interdisciplinary projects. This approach helps to enrich the educational experience, maintain interest in science, and foster an interregional and international network of students and young researchers. The initiatives also contribute to the development of a higher level of scientific personnel among young professionals.

The program of the forum encompassed an excursion itinerary on a motor vessel along the Amur River. Moreover, within the context of the international youth cultural exchange program, Russian young scholars paid a visit to Heihe University in Heihe and Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Harbin.

On June 18th, a bilateral gathering of young scientists from both Russia and China took place at Heihe University. During their visit, the participants of the forum were scheduled to tour the key laboratories of the institution. On June 19th, the young Russian scholars visited the Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences. There, the forum attendees were briefed on the primary areas of scientific research conducted at the academy and were also shown experimental fields where varietal characteristics of soybeans and corn were being studied.

The participants in the meeting deliberated upon the experience gained in implementing the projects of the Decade of Science and Technology, as well as on the pertinent measures of support for young researchers. Furthermore, they engaged in a fruitful exchange of knowledge regarding the operations of Councils for Young Scientists within the agricultural universities and scientific institutions of Russia.
