Omsk SAU successfully debuted in international THE Impact Rankings

On April 21, the results of the global university ranking THE Impact Rankings-2021 were published. This ranking was designed in 2019 by the world-famous Times Higher Education agency, and it reflects the efforts of universities on achieving 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Haven taken part in the assessment for the very first time, Omsk State Agrarian University submitted its data on the implementation of four sustainable development goals: SDG-17 "Partnerships for the Goals", SDG-2 "Zero Hunger", SDG-6 "Clean Water and Sanitation" and SDG-8 "Decent Work and Economic Growth".

The rankings methodology involves both separate data analysis and the compilation of mini-rankings for each SDG, as well as the output of the overall result. In the overall rankings, Omsk State University, along with other participating Omsk universities, finished in the category 1001+.

The analysis of each SDG demonstrated the most serious contribution of the university to the elimination of hunger on the planet (placed 201-300 out of more than 400 positions), and the contribution to the development of the global partnership for achieving the SDGs (placed 401-600 out of more than 1000 + positions). The results for SDG-6 and SDG-8 are slightly worse, but these are the weak points of most Russian universities.

The universities were evaluated by a team of independent international experts based on the data that the universities provided about themselves. In order to exclude distortion of information by universities, it was required to provide supporting data in the form of reports, news notes, posts in social networks, etc.The information openness of our university allowed us to take a higher place in the international ranking.

THE Impact Rankings is rapidly gaining popularity among international students looking for a place to study, and competition between universities is becoming more acute year by year. Next year, we hope to improve our performance and be evaluated under rankings for the rest of the Sustainable Development Goals, showing the good potential of agricultural universities in Russia in building a sustainable society.
