Environmental project designed at Omsk SAU received 500 thousand rubles from the Presidential Grant Foundation

The results of the competition for grants (subsidies to non-profit socially-oriented organizations of the Omsk region) for the development of civil society in 2023 have been announced. The Omsk SAU project "Ecologist School" won in the category "Support of projects related to science, education, and enlightenment".

The competition was organized by the Ministry of Regional Policy and Mass Communications of the Omsk region, supported by the Presidential Grant Foundation. 192 applications were received for consideration.

Omsk regional public environmental organization "Earth - Our Common Home" won the competition in the category: "Support of projects related to science, education, and enlightenment", having presented the project titled "Ecologist School" (project manager – Chairman of the organization Nina Alekseevna Popolzukhina, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor).

The project is aimed at environmental education and upbringing, which involves the formation of an ecological worldview and ecological culture among students of universities, colleges, and schools located in Omsk and in the Omsk region.
Project tasks:
• formation of skills related to environmental protection and rational use of natural resources by organizing and conducting seminars, excursions, an intellectual game, an olympiad competition, and scientific conferences among schoolchildren and students of Omsk and Omsk region;
• attracting students and schoolchildren to participate in events aimed at protecting the environment and creating comfortable conditions for living ("Eco-marines", "Paper Boom").

During the project implementation period (September 2023 - June 2024), excursions to the Botanical Garden, Zoo Museum, and Eco-Park of Omsk State Agrarian University will be organized, which will expand knowledge about the species diversity of flora and fauna of the Omsk Irtysh region, and the ecological and historical and cultural value of specially protected natural areas.

Environmental volunteers will hold seminars about rational natural resource management. The young people may use the acquired knowledge during the intellectual game "Earth Day", the interuniversity olympiad on ecology, the All-Russian (with international participation) scientific-practical conference "Ecological Readings -2024".
The students apply the acquired knowledge practically by participating in the "Eco-marines" and "Paper Boom" events.
The grant will be used to purchase multimedia equipment, expensive planting and plant material for the Botanical Garden, publish the proceedings of the scientific-practical conference "Ecological Readings-2024", and for other purposes.

"Earth - Our Common Home" will implement the project with several partners: Omsk State Agrarian University, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Omsk region; the Department of Public Security of the Omsk City Administration; the public movement "All-Russia People's Front; the All-Russian Public Organization of Environmental Volunteers "Delai".
