Omsk SAU and its Chinese partner held the international round table "Scientific Interests of Young Scientists"

On April 19, the International Relations Department and the Council of Young Scientists organized the round table "Scientific Interests of Young Scientists". The event was dedicated to research areas of young scientists at Omsk State Agrarian University and Shanxi Agricultural University (China).

The event was aimed at strengthening cooperation with the partner from the Silk Road University Alliance by sharing experience between students, postgraduates and young scientists engaged in research in agronomy, agrochemistry, veterinary medicine, food security, ecology, economics and marketing.

The round table was moderated by Denis Alexandrovich Serebrennikov, translator of the Omsk SAU International Relations Department. The meeting was held online.

Vice-Rector for Research Yuriy Ivanovich Novikov and Head of the International Relations Department Oksana Alexandrovna Kozlova addressed the participants of the round table with a welcoming speech. They stressed the importance of creating a dialogue platform for young scientists as a starting point for further scientific cooperation: 

"We initiated this event not by chance. Science cannot be regional, it must develop without borders. Scientific foundations are currently actively supporting joint research projects between our countries. And, of course, the greatest emphasis is placed on young scientists and their innovative research."

For the Chinese part, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department of Shanxi Agricultural University Fan Bingxiang and Li Dandan, Deputy Chief of the Foreign Experts Management Section of the Department of Planning and Cooperation, delivered a welcoming speech.

Main part of the round table consisted of ten presentations that covered various aspects of Shanxi Agricultural University young scientists' activities. On behalf of our university, Natalia Nikolaevna Zharkova, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology, Nature Management and Biology, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists, summed up achievements of Omsk SAU young scientists. This subject was developed by Valentina Vasilievna Kosterova, a postgraduate student of the same department. She described the structure and functions of the Council of Young Scientists and gave examples of advanced teaching and research technologies used at our university. Anastasiia Alexandrovna Zagorenko, a graduate student of the Faculty of Economics, was the last reporter to tell Chinese colleague about our university. She shared her experience in the field of studying trends in the development of marketplaces in Russia.

Shanxi Agricultural University presented seven reports from bachelor, master and PhD students. Chinese colleagues managed to cover a significant part of the scientific interests of their students: from research in economics to the creation of innovative drugs.

At the end of the meeting, the participants decided to exchange all the presented reports in order to lay the foundation for future more concrete negotiations on research cooperation.

Anastasiia Zagorenko:

"It was interesting see what research our Chinese colleagues conduct. In many aspects, we have similar interests, which can be the beginning of excellent cooperation. Also, international meetings give me a good practical experience of communicating in English, which I lack in everyday life. Thanks to the international department for letting us participate in such events!"
