Omsk SAU participated in ErasmusDays once again

The International Relations Department of Omsk State Agrarian University organized two events as part of ErasmusDays 2021 (action promoted by Erasmus+ educational programme of the European Union).

ErasmusDays are held in all Erasmus programme participating countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, South and Central America in order to popularize Erasmus activities, exchange experience, and present project results.

The first event was held on October 14. The round table discussion "Regional aspects of the implementation of Erasmus+ projects in universities" brought together 16 people representing 6 Omsk universities (Omsk State Medical University, Omsk State Pedagogical University, Dostoevsky Omsk State University, Omsk State Transport University, Siberian State University of Physical Education and Sport, Omsk State Agrarian University). Participants discussed academic mobility projects, international university cooperation and Jean Monnet activities.

At the seminar, representatives of international departments spoke about the European projects importance for regional universities and the improvement of scientific and educational potential, shared the main results and discussed obstacles that have arisen due to the pandemic. Head of OmSMU International Department S.A. Pisklakova noted that certain features of her medical university are an obstacle for participation in Erasmus+ projects. Omsk State Transport University representatives, Head of International Relations Department V.V. Tomilov and Head of the International Students Office A.A. Konovalchuk emphasized that international offices in Russian universities fere founded thanks to European international projects. However, the pandemic is a serious obstacle for the development of academic mobility.

Sorokin A.N., Head of the Department of Planning and Organization of International Activities of Dostoevsky Omsk State University and O.A. Kozlova, Head of the International Relations Department of Omsk State Agrarian University shared their experience in organizing academic mobility in universities within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

Oleg Blinov and Dinar Baetova, who coordinate Omsk SAU Jean Monnet Module, presented the events that took place during the last year and demonstrated the significance of this project in the field of improving financial literacy of the rural population in the region.

E.R. Khairullin, Associate Professor at Dostoevsky Omsk State University, presented the results of his Jean Monnet Project and noted that further measures will be taken to make the project more sustainable.

The second event, an online meeting "Student's Vision on Erasmus+" with international partners and participants of Erasmus+ Mobility for Individuals academic mobility programme, took place on October 15. Erasmus+ programme coordinators Ewelina Belkiewicz from Warsaw University of Life Sciences and Anastassia Safonova, an employee of the International Department at Estonian University of Life Sciences participated in it as honorary guests. Also, the meeting was attended by employees of the Omsk SAU Department of International Relations, more than 20 invited students, and other employees of Omsk State Agrarian University.

For the first time after the spread of coronavirus infection, Omsk State Agrarian University students were able to win an Erasmus+ grant and travel abroad to study for one semester. They are Galina Shepilevskaya and Veronica Starikova. Now Galina is enrolled at Estonian University of Natural Sciences in Tartu, Veronika is a student at Warsaw University of Natural Sciences.

Yana Leven, translator of the Department of International Relations of the Omsk State Agrarian University, moderated the meeting. Oksana Kozlova addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

Then Ewelina Belkiewicz proceeded with her presentation. She told everyone about Warsaw University of Life Sciences, courses that our students can take, programme conditions and financial support. Ewelina recalled the past mobility of students and staff of both universities,and  expressed interest in continuing cooperation with Omsk State Agrarian University in 2021-2027.

Anastassia Safonova also spoke about the opportunities that the Estonian University of Life Sciences offers to foreign students. We have a cooperation agreement with this university that allows students studying agriculture and veterinary medicine participate in academic exchanges. Galina became the second Omsk SAU students to participate in this mobility. Anastassia is satisfied with the results of cooperation with our university. She expressed a desire to continue this fruitful cooperation.

During the second part of the event,Galina Shepilevskaya and Veronika Starikova told about their impressions of studying in Estonia and Poland, answered questions from students and employees of Omsk SAU.

Additionally, International Relations Department employees took part in two ErasmusDays events organized by the National Office of Erasmus+ in Russia: webinar "Erasmus+ 2021-2027: a new programme; and a webinar Erasmus+ "Jean Monnet Program: sustainability of results".

Erasmus+ Programme is a great chance to study at one of prestigious European universities and improve language skills. Introductory weeks are organized for all international exchange participants. This is an opportunity to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the host country, as well as to make new friends from all over the world.
