Omsk State Agrarian University held a meeting with regional Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology
As the 5th of June, the Elologist's Day was coming, Omsk SAU was visited by Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Omsk Region Ilya Lobov.
The meeting was attended by teachers and students of the Faculty of Agrochemistry, Soil Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering and Water Resource Exploitation, and activists from other faculties.
Dr. Prof. Oksana Shumakova, Omsk SAU Rector, opened the meeting. Ilya Lobov congratulated the audience on the Ecologist's Day, noting that "ecology is becoming increasingly important among the professional community, and it is extremely important for the entire population as part of public activity ."
He stressed that Omsk State Agrarian University is among leaders in studying ecology. Omsk SAU faculty staff actively participate in scientific meetings organized by the Ministry. They contribute greatly to the development of the Omsk Region ecology.
Minister awarded the honorary diploma of the Government of the Omsk Region Olga Bazhenova, Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor at the Department of Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Biology for her achievements in environmental protection.
The Government of the Omsk Region awarded several Omsk SAU scientists with honorary certificates for their long and productive work and personal contribution to implementing state policy in the field of study, use, restoration and protection of natural resources. They are Andrey Knysh, Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Water Use and Water Resources Conservation, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor; Valentina Popova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Water Use and Water Resources Conservation; Zhanbolat Tusupbekov, Candidate of Geological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Nature Management, Water Use and Water Resources Protection.
The Minister handed the letter of thanks of the Government of the Omsk Region to Omsk SAU Rector Oksana Shumakova. At the end of the meeting, Minister and other participants took a shared photo.
We hope that hosting this event on 5th of June will become another good tradition at our university. It must be noted that students studying Ecology and Natural Resources Management participate in scientific conferences at various levels and conduct practical research from the very first year of studying at Omsk SAU. Samat Mukanov, a graduate student of the Faculty, has won a Rosmolodezh grant after presenting his project "Ecogeneration of the Omsk Irtysh Region 2.0" Affiliated to the Department of Ecology, Natural Resources Management and Biology, Omsk regional environmental organization "The Earth - our common home" has been working for more than 10 years already. Currently, it unites many students and professors of Omsk SAU.
