Webinar on the European Solidarity Corps program

On June 25, Omsk SAU International Relations Department organized the online meeting on the EU program "European Solidarity Corps". The program was presented by our compatriot Dana Dyakova. She was a participant of the program herself, but now she is a consultant of Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps programs.

As for Omsk SAU, employees of the International Relations Department and volunteers of the Volunteer Center participated in the meeting.

European Solidarity Corps is an international volunteer project aimed at young people aged 18-30. Volunteers can participate in many different activities: assistance in preventing or eliminating the consequences of natural disasters, assistance to refugees, working in small communities, helping the handicapped children, etc. Each year, about 250 young people from Russia participate in the project.

Short-term volunteer projects last for 14 - 30 days.

Long-term projects can last up to a year, but each volunteer can take part in such program only once. The workload ranges from 30 to 38 hours per week, 2 days a week participants have days off. Volunteers can seek help from experienced mentors.

European Solidarity Corps does not require participants to have good language skills, so the program is suitable for almost any volunteers. Dana even told that once she met a volunteer who had no language skills at all, but still was able to work in Europe.

The grant issued by the European Union covers all the expenses, including flight from Omsk to the place of work. Participants are paid 90-180 euros per month. The amount depends on the country where volunteers go. Also, participants are provided with accommodation, food, and good medical insurance that covers even emergency dental care.

The project also lets Omsk SAU invite foreign volunteers to participate in different projects here, at the University.

Дана Дьякова.png Mobility of Young Workers is another interesting part of the project. It allows specialists who work with the young participate in international training courses and seminars sponsored by grants. Prospects of the work with young people and personal skills development are the focal topics of these events.

Dana described the main features of European Solidarity Corps and shared her own experience of participating in the program. We hope that Omsk SAU will not only be able to send volunteers, but will also be accredited to accept foreign volunteers for conducting joint projects.

You can find detailed information about the European Solidarity Corps on the official website. There is also a search filter that allows each participant to choose the most suitable and interesting volunteering project.
