Agrotechnological Faculty
The Agrotechnological Faculty was founded in 2014, when the Faculty of Agronomy and the Faculty of Food Technologies were united.
The Faculty of Agronomy is the oldest faculty at the University. It has existed since 1918, since the birth of the Agricultural Institute.
Graduates of this faculty work in different areas of the economy - in nurseries, forestry, experimental stations, state-owned breeds testing centers, laboratories and research institutes. They head almost 40 % of agricultural enterprises in the Omsk region, and manage the agronomic complex of the region.
In classrooms, on University's fields and in the Botanic Garden, students learn the biological features of various plant species, the laws of managing the development of plants. They master the techniques of soil cultivation, increasing fertility and protecting it from erosion, learn the secrets of obtaining high and stable yields of agricultural crops. Students master the wisdom of gardening in Siberia, growing valuable and necessary vegetables, acquire knowledge and skills to protect plants from diseases and pests.
Future plant breeders master the methods of selection and participate in breeding the new plants on experimental fields of the University.
The Agrotechnological Faculty employs qualified teachers who have excellent erudition, pedagogical skills and vast knowledge of the achievements of modern science and production.
The Agrotechnological Faculty also makes great contribution to the University's scientific and research work. The schools of thought developed by professors A.M. Sitnikov, N.G. Ryzhkov and S.I. Leontyev have been established here, and they are still in use. In recent years, postgraduate training intensity has significantly increased.
In July 1930, the Dairy Research Institute consisting of three faculties was established in Omsk. The Institute was subordinated to the All-Union Association "Soyuzmoloko" (a division of the USSR Ministry of Trade). The Association managed the industrial processing of milk and the sale of dairy products. Training of students is also conducted in the field of food from vegetable raw materials and food of animal origin. Also, there is the Master program No 260200.68 - Food products of animal origin.
The faculty has a modern material and technical base. Students are enrolled in a variety of applied training programs, they participate in student research groups, and they're engaged in scientific work.
