Faculty of Economics
The history of Faculty of Economics dated back to July 25, 1919, when Siberian Agricultural Institute and Polytechnic Institute were united. The new University had 4 faculties, including the Faculty of Economics.
Professor N. Ya. Novobergsky was the first Dean of the Faculty of Economics. However, the same year the Faculty of Economics was terminated, and it didn't have time to start working properly. At that time, it was considered that "the faculty did not correspond to the objectives and spirit of era."
In Soviet times, socio-economic disciplines were poorly presented at our university. During the reorganization in 1930s, the Department of Economics was a part of the Faculty of Land Management. Later, it was a part of Agroeconomic Faculty. At that time, several students of the Faculty of Agrotechnology were retrained as agronomist-economists. The Great Patriotic War suspended the work of the Department.
In the autumn of 1948, the training of economists was continued. In 1948-1950, study program "Economics and organization of agriculture" was available at the Faculty of Horticulture, and from 1950 to 1954 – at the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization. The Faculty of Economics became independent in 1954, when it was separated from the Faculty of Mechanization. In 1958, the Faculty of Economics accepted the first group of students to study Accounting.
